The house has been designed for a rare north facing sea view site on the Garden Route coast near Mossel Bay. The site slopes gently down towards the road frontage and to the north. As a row of existing houses across the road will block views from ground floor, the house has been designed with the living areas and main bedroom on the first floor to maximise views. One enters into a double volume atrium, which also serves to separate the living areas from the private study and bedroom area on the first floor level, with catwalks overhead linking the two portions of the building. The proposed house will be timber frame construction on conventional concrete and brickwork foundations.
